Internships
The IAPG welcomes graduate students interested in
gaining advocacy experience in the area of reproductive
health and rights. Unfortunately internships are
unpaid, but academic credits can be arranged as
well as possible travel to the region. Students
are encouraged to seek funding from other sources.
Due to space limitations the IAPG can only accommodate
one or two interns per semester. Interns work with
our small staff benefiting from first-hand experience
in program work, fundraising, research, and advocacy.
Some administrative work will also be required.
Students usually commit 10-12 hours per week during
the academic semester and full time during the summer.
Depending on availability, we accept resumes on
a rolling basis throughout the year. Intern responsibilities
generally include:
-
Research and monitor legislative developments
in the area of reproductive health and rights
in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
-
Assist with the organization of meetings, training
workshops and briefings.
-
Monitor UN meetings and conferences.
-
Draft background materials for publication and
assist in the production of the IAPG Newsletter.
Requirements: B.A, and in the process of completing
a Masters degree in political science, public policy,
economic development, international relations or related
field.
-
Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
-
Strong interest in sexual and reproductive health
and rights, and gender issues.
-
An understanding of the regional political and
legislative process is desirable.
-
Good organizing, writing, and interpersonal
skills.
-
Computer literacy (MS Word, Access, Excel).
